My New Best Friend

A few months ago I was watching one of my favourite Youtubers - Lauren Curtis - and she started talking about the Clarisonic and how it helped sort out her skin. It looked amazing and I read many reviews where people were swearing by this little facial cleanser and I was really considering getting one. Until I saw the price tag. A Clarisonic can range from £99 to £179 and while I would pay a good price for something to help my skin, for me, it was out of my price range.

However, every cloud has a silver lining as I found out about the new facial cleansing brush on the market - the Magnitone. I hadn't heard a lot about the Magnitone but like always I spent a good amount of time reading about the product and looking at reviews on different websites online. The Magnitone seemed just as good as the Clarisonic and at a more affordable price of £69.99.

I went to Olympia Beauty last Monday and picked up a pink Magnitone Lucid for a special show offer of just £49.99 along with two replacement heads for £10 which usually retail at £15 and the lovely man also gave me a travel case for free - bargain! The Magnitone promises to "leave you with softer, brighter & clearer skin in just 7 days" so I decided I would test it out for a week and let you know my results!

The overall texture of my skin is pretty good and smooth, however, I have blackheads on my nose and chin with an oily T-Zone. I can get blemishes/spots on my chin which are usually just due to hormones.

Day 1: The Magnitone Lucid has a normal setting and a sensitive setting. I decided to use the sensitive setting until my skin gets used to the cleanser. I removed my eye make up and decided to see how well it removed the rest of my make up. It removed a lot of my foundation but I felt my skin wasn't completely clean although it did seem to clear out some blackheads on my nose.

Day 2: I was excited to use my Magnitone this morning. Again, I used the sensitive setting and my skin felt so soft after I used it. The blackheads on my nose and chin looked a lot better. In the evening I removed all my make up and then cleansed my face. I was shocked at how much make up was left on the brush head after cleansing - all these years going to bed with make up still in my pores, yuckkk!! My face felt so clean and my moisturiser seemed to absorb better too.

Day 3: I woke up and my skin felt so good and even better after I cleansed in the morning. My pores on my nose and chin are starting to look a lot smaller and my skin just feels so soft and fresh! I usually always have make up on but I felt good enough about my skin to go out for the day without any make up on at all! Once again, I cleansed in the evening before bed and I keep feeling happier with the way my skin is looking.

Day 4: Breakout! Arghhhh! When I woke up, I thought my cute little Lucid could be causing the spots but turns out its due to hormones. I cleansed in the morning and I've started to notice how smoothly my foundation is going on. My make up looks more flawless and my pores are definitely less visible. After removing my make up in the evening, I cleansed my face and went to bed with fresh feeling skin.

Day 5: Mount Everest the Second has decided to grow on my chin - joys! Despite having a giant red spot glaring back at me in the mirror, I am so happy with my skin especially as the dreaded blackheads seem to be disappearing more each day! I also love having a proper skin care routine now and can never not be bothered to cleanse my face properly. I used the Magnitone in the morning and evening and my skin is still improving with no signs of irritation.

Day 6Hooray my spot is disappearing and I'm convinced my Lucid has helped with that! Once again I cleansed in the morning and before bedtime and my skin is just looking fresher and clearer each day. I tried out the non-sensitive setting on the Lucid this evening and despite my skin not being sensitive I did find it a little too rough but that may be because I'm not used to it. Pores and blackheads are still less visible and my T-Zone seems less oily during the day.

Day 7: Day 7 has arrived and I am so impressed with my Lucid, I can't fault it! My skin is looking better and clearer each day with pores becoming less visible, make up gliding on more smoothly and my skin looking fresher. I feel so much more confident without make up now and I can't wait to see how my skin will look after regularly use every day!

The head is can be easily removed to clean it

The brush flashes red when it it charging and is a solid red once full charge has been reached

The charger is magnetic which then connects to the wire/plug

As you can see, I don't have a bad word to say about my Magnitone and I can't rate it highly enough. Whether you have "bad skin" or not, this will still help your skin texture massively and it is amazing at clearing blackheads which countless blackhead strips will never be able to remove. The great thing about the Magnitone Lucid is that you can use any cleanser with it - I currently use the Simple Kind to Skin Facial Wash - and it is travel size so you can take it anywhere you go as well. All I can say is thank you Magnitone for finding me my new best friend and giving me clearer, fresher looking skin!

Let me know in the comments if you have tried the Magnitone or even the Clarisonic and what your results were like. I'd also love to know what facial washes and moisturisers you all use!

Pay Day Haul

Not everyone admits it but we all love having a little nosey at what people have bought. Throughout the month of August I worked pretty much everyday so when it came to pay day I thought I would treat myself to some new clothes/make up etc. before starting to train as a Beauty Therapist. Not everything I bought was purchased in one big shop - some things were purchased online but with everything shown I have left a link to the product on the relevant website if you are wanting to treat yourself!

I have been looking for some black skinny, high waisted jeans for a while now so when I saw these in Miss Selfridge I had to try them on! They are a perfect fit and are super soft. I have already worn them a few times and I will definitely consider buying jeans from Miss Selfridge again as they are just soo comfy and good value for money. I picked these up for £36 but used my NUS extra card for 10% off.

When I walking to the changing rooms with my jeans to try on I spotted this bright cami and just couldn't resist so picked it up as I thought it would look great with the jeans too! I picked this up for £18 but got 10% off with my NUS extra card.

I popped into River Island to have a look around as I am loving their new Autumn/Winter clothes. I picked up this tank top for £16. I love the colour burgundy and will look great paired with my new black jeans or a pair of leggings.

I have been window shopping for a handbag for a while now. I had my heart set on a handbag from River Island but when I went into the store all of the bags had marks on them or were damaged (I've had this problem before). I even asked for one from the stockroom and it was still marked and had the strap missing. I was disappointed but still ordered it online and was happy to see when it arrived that it was well packed and damage-free (woohoo!). To give you an idea on size I am able to put a lever arch file in the bag and still have room for my purse etc. The bag is £45.

Like every other girl I know, I love picking up some bargain buys in Primark. Whenever I go to bars or clubs I constantly have to flutter my eyelashes and 'pretty please' my Mum to borrow her nude coloured clutch so I thought it was time I bought my own! I picked this clutch up for just £6 and it is the perfect size to fit money, mirror, make up, brush and my phone in! I also picked up these really cute Minnie Mouse '#selfie' pjs for a whopping £8. They are so cosy and really cute.

I have been looking for a pink coat for agessss and I had finally found one that I set my heart on! I saw this coat online at Zara and thought I would need the size medium as I am a size 8/10 however I tried it on in store beforehand and I actually need the large. I still decided to purchase the coat online as I prefer buying coats that no one has tried on before me and the delivery is free over £50 so I didn't mind waiting a couple of days to receive it. The coat is £69.99.

I popped to the MAC counter on my shopping trip and picked up the lipstick in Russian Red as I have heard so many good things about it. It is a matte lipstick and looks stunning on (if I do say so myself)! I picked it up for £15.50.

I use Rimmel London's Match Perfection foundation but had run out and just by luck they had released their two new Lasting Finish foundations. I wasn't too sure what one to go for but I tweeted Rimmel themselves and luckily they tweeted back suggesting their 'Nude' version of the 25hr Lasting Finish Foundation which is £7.99. The first night I wore it, I went to a bar and then clubbing so I really put it too the test and from what I remember it looked pretty good when I got in at 4:30am (ooops). Boots have a deal on at the moment - buy any two Rimmel products for £10 so I also picked up their Fix and Perfect primer (£6.99) which does and wonders and also smells great!

Lastly, I picked up the Batiste dry shampoo in Light and Blonde for £3.99 and it is supposed to add a tint of colour to your hair which is good news for me as I hate my hair going really white and having to spend ages rubbing it in. I am yet to try this version of their dry shampoo out but I am sure it will be great.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I've been buying lately. Let me know what you think of my purchases and what you have been buying in the comments below - I would love to know!

Makeup Revolution Haul

Makeup Revolution is a fairly new make up brand that has launched in Superdrug stores up and down the country with products starting from just £1. I was on their website last week and I just couldn't help myself so I had a mini haul and treated myself!

The first product I snapped for just £6 was the Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette in Light. As my skin is so pale, blemishes and dark circles are more visible than they would be on darker skin tones. I have tried and tested countless concealers to try and cover up my dark circles in particular but nothing works well as they are all too dark or orange. However, this palette offers 8 light shades (less than £1 per colour of concealer if you think about it - bargain!) and I couldn't love them more! The 3 lightest shades are perfect for my skin tone and when mixed together my dark circles are almost completely unnoticeable! I'm so pleased I purchased this palette and I will definitely be buying it in the medium and dark colours for kit.

All 8 shades top to bottom row from L-R

The second palette I picked up for also £6 was the Ultra Blush and Contour Palette in Sugar and Spice. I am a massive sucker for blushers and when I saw this palette I had to get it! Due to my skin tone being so light I am lucky because most blush colours work well my skin. When I opened the palette I could not believe how stunning these colours are! They are beautiful! All of the colours are highly pigmented and would look stunning on any skin tone. The last colours in both the top and bottom row of the palette are shimmery and seem like they have an added highlights whilst the other colours are all matte. The palette can also be purchased in Hot Spice which looks like it may be suited to more darker skin tones rather than us pale girls! Once again, I will be purchasing both the blush and contour palettes for my make up kit.

All 8 shades from top to bottom row L-R

Makeup Revolution has an I Heart Makeup range which features dupes of the Too Faced blushing heart blushers/bronzers/highlighters. I purchased the I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts Goddess of Love Highlighter for £4.99. I haven't used many highlighters so I can't compare this to any others but I love the glow it gives me without looking like a shinning disco ball!

Whilst browsing through the I Heart Makeup section on the website I decided to purchase an eyebrow kit. I chose the I Heart Makeup Brow Kit in Fairest of them all for £3.99. The kit contains 3 powdered shades and a wax to go over the brows to hold them in place after they have been filled in. The set also includes a pair of mini tweezers and a mini brush. I love this little kit - its perfect! The lightest shade is a bit too light for me as it makes my eyebrows look ginger however the second and third shade is perfect for a natural look or building up colour.

3 shades from L-R as shown in the palette

The final product I picked up was the I Heart Makeup I Heart Definition in Fair for £4.99. The palette contains a bronzer, blusher and highlighter. Due to having such fair skin, bronzers tend to make me look muddy and many have shimmers in which is not a good look if you are trying to contour. The bronzer in this palette is matte and is perfect for lighter skin tones. It doesn't look muddy or cakey on the face and adds great definition. The blush is also fairly light and combined with the highlighter, creates a gorgeous natural glow!

Colours from the palette L-R

As you can tell from my short reviews, I absolutely love all the products I purchased from Makeup Revolution. The products are highly pigmented, good quality and don't break the bank either which is always a plus! I will definitely be purchasing some eye shadow palettes from their range for personal use and for my make up kit soon along with some other bargain buys too!
